I was hoping to build in a "baker's table" to my island during our kitchen remodel. Because of clearances it makes more sense to buy a table that can be moved for crowded occasions. I'm having a hard time locating one I like and can afford. My style is "transitional" so a clean-lined reproduction table would be great. Does anyone have a source I should check out? Thank you!!

Ikea.
I'm dead serious. They have solid 1 1/2" thick beech, oak, and birch countertops. Comes in 24" and 30" widths and a few lengths. Fairly reasonable when compared to other solid topped tables, just add legs. For cooking purposes, beech is the best bet.
Hope this helps
