Just a quick introduction while I snoop through the forums /img/vbsmilies/smilies//smile.gif I am a stay at home mother of 1 and always had a interest in food.Getting married and becoming a mommy just gave me the motivation I needed to learn properly. Both my husband and I are trying to eat as healthy as possible, not only for our benefit but also to lead by example for our child.Practice what you preach, huh?

I love kitchen gadgets and my television is alwaysset on the Food Network. My favorite chefs are Wolfgang Puck and Julia Childs but I also like modern chefs such as Puala Deen and Ida Garten.

The style of cooking I'm most comfortable with is Southern as well as Latin. These are food I grew up eating and first learned to cook. I'm interested in learning African and Indian cooking.Portuguese cooking would be great as well. Sorry for the block of text and hope to learn from you all. Thanks for reading /img/vbsmilies/smilies//smile.gif

Hello and welcome to ChefTalk.

We have a membership which spans the globe (I'm Scots!) and all levels of ability, from those just starting out, to masterchefs - so any questions you may have will probably find many answers!

I'm a keen amateur cook, and I've done cookery courses all around the UK and the rest of Europe, including Italy, France, Portugal and Spain - and a couple of the greek islands, too - I just LOVE to cook.  I try to ensure that I cook as seasonally as possible - I buy only organic  meats and mostly organic veg, too.  I've been doing it for nigh on 25 years because, like you, i wanted my family to eat healthily!

I love lots of UK chefs, from our own local, Nick Nairn to Heston Blumenthal and Gordon Ramsay.  I love Indian food - in fact, they say that Indian food is the 'second' British food - the advantages of having had an empire, I suppose.

Feel free to join in on any thread you find interesting, or start your own.  All we ask is that you respect the fact that the Professional fora are read-only for those of us who aren't in any of the culinary trades (although they still make great reading!)  The articles and photographs on here are also worth spending  time to peruse!
