Hey bughut I know the feeling well as do many others I suspect. I went through a three week period of near insomnia a couple of months back, the more I thought about it, the worse it got.
When I come home late from a busy service and my body is saying "you know, you really should get some sleep" but my brain is saying "hey, there is nooo way I am shutting down for at least a couple of hours" I do pretty much the same as you, pour a large one and open the laptop.... Bottoms up!
