flags at half staff

Thread Starter

I noticed that the flags are half staff at post offices and have been since Monday, I think. They are also at half staff in DC. Does anyone know who is being honored?

    Hi Brook,

I'm not aware why the US flag would be at half staff since Monday.  But many were at half mast on the 7th of December for Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

A part of a message sent to the Fleet...

1. PER REFS A AND B, AND AS DIRECTED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES,
THE NATIONAL ENSIGN SHALL BE FLOWN AT HALF MAST ON TUESDAY, 7 DECEMBER 2010,
FROM SUNRISE TO SUNSET, IN HONOR OF PEARL HARBOR REMEMBRANCE DAY.

Also applies to State and Federal Buildings.

TORA, TORA, TORA is a really good movie about Pearl Harbor, factual about the events

leading up to the attack, the movie was filmed by an American crew and a Japanese crew.

I watch it every Year on Dec 7th.

(Midway is another great Navy film with Charlton Heston).

Sorry if my Navy bias is showing. ;-) (go Navy...Beat Army)

As others have since said, Pearl Harbor.

December 8th is not only the anniversary of Lennon's death, it is also the date of Jim Morrison's birthday for all you Doors fans out there.

pearl harbor day, for sure...definitely not for lennon...the us government tried to deport him remember?...he was an 'undesirable'...a 'radical'.....oh my!

the real reason i think was because he was involved in the peace movement...he just wanted peace....

peace & love....
