you would be tarred and feathered for making "shepherds pie" with ground beef in certain parts of the world. You may call that cottage pie, however.

I use ground beef in Nasi Goreng (Indonesian fried rice) but I don't add egg as I'm allergic and I use less of the chili paste so the kids will not gripe. I also use it in Indian kebabs, for salisbury steak with mushroom sauce, and also in soups. If you are interested in any recipes let me know and I'll happily share.
