Taco Cake

My sister is making wedding and groom's cakes for my son's wedding in July.  For the groom's cake, he has asked for a taco cake.  Does anyone have easy directions on just how to make a large taco (without using fondant if possible).  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

why not make a solid cake and use buttercream etc to simulate the fillings?  could be standing or lying on it's side smile.gif

P.S im cake illiterate haha so forgive me if my suggestion is bad :)

We have thought about making the round cake and cutting it in half.  Maybe a jelly roll cake folded.  I even thought about the Rice Crispy Treat and work with that.  I really appreciate your thoughts and ideas.  I could certainly use any ideas available.

I like the Rice Crispie Treat approach. How many people would you need to serve from this cake?

A little over 200 are invited to the wedding, but of course, we are thinking 100-150, but that won't be all for the groom's cake.  We are also having a wedding cake for the price, that is 3 or 4 tiers.  It is this dang taco that is driving us crazy.  I watch cake boss all the time on t.v. and he uses the Rice Crispie Treats all the time, so I guess it's worth a try.  We are going to make one way before the wedding to see how it turns out.  Thanks for your input.  If you know of anything else, please let me know.  All suggestions are appreciated.

Thats not exactly a cake if you use rice crispies. You should make him a taco flavored cake. If he didn't specify if he wanted it shaped like a taco or not. I think that would be an intresting thing for the wedding.  a taco flavored cake.

That's just it, he would like it to look like a taco.  Of course, a sheet cake with a taco on top would be fine.  Thanks for your response.
