I bought one of these just for making osso buco. I found myself using it for a lot more than just that. I make tomato sauce in it, chili, any excuse I have to bust it out, I do. I absolutely...

One of my first internet knives. Great blade. I mean *great* but the handle was a bit weird. Right now it just sits at the bottom of my knife kit.

I've owned one of these for over 3 years now, using it daily. I've never had to sharpen (grind) it, just an occasional run along a fine steel, and it's held a wonderful edge for everyday prep....

Hi.. from Cali
Welcome to the site - I hope you will enjoy being part of our community!
We have members from around the globe (I'm Scots) and all levels of culinary ability from those just starting out on their culinary adventure to masterchefs - and all points in between. I fall into the category of 'enthusiastic amateur'. We have a culinary students' forum where you will be able to find others in exactly the same boat as you find yourself - with lots of helpful info, too.
Feel free to post on any thread you find interesting, or start your own in the relevant forum. The professional fora are read-only for those not currently employed in one of the culinary trades - but as an aspiring chef, you might find them interesting to read. Certainly all the wikis, blogs, photographs, articles and reviews on the site make helpful and informative reading for a student!
I did a 6 week course at LCB, Paris - more years ago than I care to remember - and enjoyed every minute of it. As an enthusiastic amateur, I still attend cooking courses around Europe and all over the UK. I don't remember there being more than one or two LCB schools anywhere when I attended, now they are all over the world!
Hope to see you around the forums!

The wikis, blogs, articles, reviews and photography on the site are all inspirational and worth spending some time to view. Feel free to join in on any thread you find interesting, or start your own in the relevant forum. Please note, the professional fora are read-only for those not currently employed in the culinary trades, but they are also worth viewing for an insight into the career you are training for at present!
