What are are you planting in your vegetable garden this spring?

We used to have tomatoes but it was such a pain with all the pest and the sandy soil around here...

Still this spring we got a few cherry-tomato plants, which we'll plant with our toddler - he loves cherry tomatoes. My wife will give him ice-cream, and he won't eat it, asking for more cherry tomatoes. :)

This year we downed a few trees to insure morning sunlight in the garden. I've already started some seedlings in the greenhouse and hope to plant by early June.

Our list is impressive: Roma Tomatoes, Cherry Tomatoes, Heirloom Tomatoes, Celery, Zucchini, Yellow squash, Green beans, Pole Beans, Pumpkin, Tomatilloes, Carrots, Rutabaga, Turnips, Red and Green Cabbage, Spinach, Red Romaine, Leaf Lettuce, Jalapeño Peppers, Basil, Tarragon, Red Potatoes, Yukon Gold Potatoes, Broccoli, Parsnips, Cauliflower, Peas, and Snap Peas, Fennel, and Cucumbers.

We are also trying a new heartier strain of grape this year in the vineyard.

The golden raspberry plants were a waste of money up here as the cold winter killed them off, but the black raspberry plants are ok.

I listed everything on the other thread of this nature, so no need repeating.

But last night when I got home I noticed I have a fig on my 3-year old trees. Just one. But it's the first. So I'm kind of ecstatic, as it's been a long, hard fight.

In the winter, i stripped everything out of the ground, and decided to start over from seeds.

This week I planted in the ground some NM New heritage 6-4, habaneros, Jalmundo and Vaquero jalapenos, Serano tampiqueno, Poblano, Chile de Arbol. Grandma's Pick and roma tomatoes. Next will be green onions, epazote, and basil. Sound slike a lot of peppers, but Each variety has less than six. Happy harvest to you!

Richoso, where are you located?

I ask only because I find it strange that you'd put in tender plants before putting in onions, which are cold hardy.

I live in SoCal. I just start planting seeds indoors around late December, and continue planting seeds until I have what I need. I'll update my profile, thanks for the headsup.

looking at your great photos of the chile arbol salsa which looks muy sabrosa, am wondering...did you put ALL those chilies in? that would make it fire eatin' dragon hot and certainly not for the faint of heart if you did, no? also, what was the orb on the grill? anything else in the salsa besides the cialntro? was that corn i saw? as i said, looks great, but hot, which personally i love....thanks

hey everyone i live on a balconey so i don't have much room but as of right now i have sheppard peppers, 'sicilian' eggplant, cherry tomatoes, and chives.. i wanna get more i just dunno what....
