boil first or cook from raw

Hello and welcome Steven, thanks for taking the time to check out this great forum! One thing of interest I have been wondering is some people actuallyboil the meat a little first so it doesn't dry out while fully cooking it from raw. Would you recommend this cooking method for any bbq meat such as baby back ribs?

Never would I recommend boiling meat before you barbecue it. Here's a challenge: Buy two corned beef briskets. Boil one as per the package directions, and smoke-roast the other on your grill (no boiling). The differences in flavor and texture will amaze you, and answer your question forever. When you boil meat, the fats and flavor go directly into the water. Great for soup-making--not so good for grilling.
