Phatch, am not quite sure what you mean by "confessional bits" in Primal Grill. You mean the outtakes? Where (mostly) you see me screw up my lines? In including them, there was absolutely no intention to provide cut space. That's a new term to me, in fact. I don't even think syndication is an option on PBS.
No, they're just there for fun. We're real people--working, sometimes, 18 hour days, flubbing lines, dropping plates, laughing at inappropriate times, swatting the huge bugs that come out at night in the Arizona desert, waiting for golfers to finish their tee-offs... In that sense, I guess you could call it "reality". The main thing is we want the audience to see that a lot of people contribute to the success of the show.
