fondant melted

Hi: I made some cupcakes 2 days ago... put icing on and decorated the with a fondant star for the 4th of July. Yesterday when  I looked at them the stars were melted... did not put in the fridge, and where in a clear cupcake box... not exposed to heat or anything.

I bought the wilton colored fondant.

Why do u think this happened?

Icing? buttercream?  the rolled fondant has absorbed moisture/oil from the buttercream ...
