Whats the deal with signatures?

All that can be found are non-working instructions in the help section.

 

I spend about 20 minutes hunting around, and then found a post hinting at how only people who pay can get signatures?

 

If this is the case, please state that in the help file so people dont waste their time, thanks.

It's spam control. New members  have that feature disabled. It turns itself on when you reach a certain threshold
