Hi from CT's "Quiet Corner"

I'm a 25+yr pro chef, but now I'm drifting happily into the sweet realm of the pastry chef. I'm going slowly, working part time in a small bakery, teaching cake decorating and experimenting with all the "new" sweets I can find in cookbooks and on the web.
At this point, I'm not sure I'll ever find a full time job in the field up in this neck of the woods, but I'm not in a big hurry either.
I also have a teaching degree from Johnson&Wales, so I hope to be able to help out here answering questions.

Your nickname is the Scottish Mountain Ash - also known as a method of keeping witches away from the door of your home!

 

We have membership from around the globe (I'm Scots, as you have probably gathered from my comments regarding the rowan).  Our members are also at all levels of expertise, from those just starting out to masterchefs - and all points in between.

 

Feel free to join in on any thread you find interesting - or start your own in the relevant forum.  We also have 3 Professional fora, where you an post.

 

The wikis, blogs, articles, reviews and photographs on the site are also well worth spending time to view.

Thanks for the warm welcome, I'm a little bit Scot, too on both parents' sides, and I'm familiar with the Mountain Ash--its one of my favorite trees!  I love to explore the history and present of all things Scotland, too!
