Just thought I would introduce myself as I will be coming to this forum ALOT in the coming months :) My name is Anna, I am 30 and about to dive into the world of being a Personal Chef. I am really excited about this venture. A career in the culinary industry has always been a dream of mine but due to health problems and the fact that I am now a stay at home mom to 2 young children I never saw it being a reality. That is, until I found out about being a PC. So....that's that! So glad I found this website and I can make this career exactly what I want it to be!

I bought one of these just for making osso buco. I found myself using it for a lot more than just that. I make tomato sauce in it, chili, any excuse I have to bust it out, I do. I absolutely...

One of my first internet knives. Great blade. I mean *great* but the handle was a bit weird. Right now it just sits at the bottom of my knife kit.

I've owned one of these for over 3 years now, using it daily. I've never had to sharpen (grind) it, just an occasional run along a fine steel, and it's held a wonderful edge for everyday prep....

Hello and welcome to Cheftalk.
Our membership is wide - both in terms of culinary ability and geographical! Are you from Italy? I'm Scots and an enthusiastic amateur, but we have a lot of personal chefs on the site who may be a great source of info for you.
Feel free to join in on any thread you find interesting or start your own in the relevant forum. The wikis, blogs, articles, reviews and photographs on the site are well worth spending time to view - and the photographs, especially, are a great source of inspiration!
Hope to see you around the boards.

Thanks for the warm welcome! No, Ishbel, I am not from Italy. Just in love with the country and everything about it (food included!!!).
Nicko, my background is simple. Got married at a young age so I have been cooking for my husband for a long time. I LOVE to cook and it was actually a trip to Italy in 2004 that really got me into food big time. We started our family 4 years ago and I have continued to hone my skills, teaching myself techniques, experimenting with recipes, etc. I have taken a couple local cooking classes, but have no formal training. I have thrown numerous dinner parties and everyone rants and raves about my food. However, becoming a professional in the industry seemed out of the question since my children are very young and the nearest culinary school is 6 hours away (I am in Bozeman, Montana). Then I discovered personal cheffing and decided this would be the perfect opportunity for me to get to do what I love (COOK!) and be able to make my own schedule to fit my family's needs. I think it will be a huge success in my town because there are only 3 or 4 other PC's here, and people are very HEALTH conscious and looking for healthy alternatives to eating out. A big family town too. I just ordered the Home Study Course from the American Personal and Private Chef Institute and hope to get my business up and running by December when the ski resorts open and people are looking for help with dinner parties and what not. Sooo looking forward to it!!
