My name is Tim Strand and live about 30 minutes south of Milwaukee.  I love reading through the reviews on equipment, techniques, and recipes.  And of course, I love to cook and consider myself pretty decent without having actual training and only working as a prep/fry cook back in my college days.  Love cooking for my family and friends and appreciate this forum greatly.  Thanks for having me!

Hello Tim and welcome to ChefTalk.


Our membership is wide, both geographically (I'm Scots) and in terms of culinary ability.  Like you, I fall into the 'ethusiastic amateur' camp, but we have all levels from 'can't boil water' to masterchefs!


As you have seen - the site has wonderful articles, recipes, reviews and photography.  The photography particularly is a source of inspiration, especially some of the wonderful cakes from our talented pastry chefs.


Feel free to join in on any thread you find of interest, or start your own in the relevant forum.  Please note, though, that the professional fora area read-only for those of us who are not presently employed in the culinary trades (but they still make fascinating reading).
