need lots of advice as a newbie.

Hi All, My name is Kemi, 25 years old. Mother of 2 gorgeous kids,I'm new on this forum, from Nigeria. I love to cook and have always wanted to do so on a big scale. I've had my eyes on catering for over 3 years. So far, I have only catered to one event due to my work, i work in a bank. I don't get satisfaction from that so I really want to start my biz. I registered my biz name, Carnely ventures, to start on a  small note. But my husband & mum think it's too early to start off on my own since i've only worked for 3 years and i don't have a client base yet. I don't have enough capital to start. But my idea of the biz is to have a diner and do catering as well. I need advice as to all i need to start and be successful and whether it will be wise to take a loan from my bank to start off.

Welcome to the professional forum of cheftalk.

I think it'd be great if you opened a diner -catering company.......your bank knows you well, so they'd be the best ones to provide your financing.

I can't answer your questions because I don't know you.

Only you can know when you've gathered enough experience to open a cafe. 

I think most of us here would recommend:

1) working in the types of business you're interested in owning

2) taking classes

3) doing your due diligence by researching your project

 

combination of all the above.

 

Age has NOTHING to do with readiness.
