Anyone been to the Venetian (Las Vegas) recently? I'm looking for restaurant suggestions. I usually have 1 or 2 mid-high to high priced meals and then the rest average priced.
Keep in mind that the Venetian and Palazzo are connected and the Wynn is a very easy walk just across the street. I ate at Batali's Carnevino recently and it was quite good. Some of the dishes were true knockouts, some were just good.
I would heartily recommend Bouchon for breakfast, though their dinner and oyster bar is great, too. However, I have been several times for breakfast and it is always delicious. The location is beautiful and is one of the few casino restaurants that doesn't feel like a casino restaurant.
If you are renting a car (a smart choice in Vegas), definitely checkout Chinatown. It is only a few blocks west of the Venetian and there are some great izakayas. If you like Thai, Lotus of Siam (a car or cab would be needed) is great and the chef recently won a James Beard award, not common for Thai, but well-deserved.
Try to make your way south on the Strip and check out some of the great restaurants at The Cosmopolitan and Aria (where I work, so am totally biased). At Cosmo - Milos, Scarpetta, Jaleo and E by Jose Andres would be my preferences over some of the other Venetian restaurants.
I hope you have a great trip and be sure to let us know how the food is!
Many years ago, when we had taken a vacation to Las Vegas, we had lunch at a steak house called the Gold or Golden Steer. The rare filet mignon with Bernaise and the rare sirlion my husband had were so tender, we did not need knives ... So, it is possible the same Chef and / or Restaurateurs are still running it.
