Wetstones for Mac Damascus

hey all i recently purchased a mac damscus chef,paring,utility knife and was wonder what stones to go with? I know theirs the roll sharp but i've heard you can get your knives with a better edge with stones. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks alot

Lots of excellent choices.

 

If you want to use bench stones, and if you want to start with good -- as opposed to learner's -- stones, I suggest buying a Bester 1200 and Suehiro Rika; learning to use them, Bester first; and only after you've mastered the Rika, adding a Beston 500 for profile and repair. 

 

MAC is marginal for taking more polish than a Rika will give, but if it's polish you want try a Takenoko (aka Arashiyama) instead of the Suehiro Rika.

 

Round out the kit with a 12" Idahone Fine (aka "1200") hone.

thanks for all this awesome information boar d laze would you say those stones are for more experiance say im just getting into using stones and been practicing a bit haha sorry just dont wanna go to far with stones know how pricey knives are haha
