homemade dark stock alternative?

i hear a good alternative to homemade stock is buying premade stock from more than gourmet. what can i use to subtitute homeade dark stock? they don't seem to have any.

They have reduced brown roasted stocks: you just dilute them in water while heating it up to get a regular stock.

looking at the descriptions, how do i tell which is regular stock and which is dark stock?
