Brioche rolls are great-flavorful, hearty enough to not fall apart when burger juices release, but not too firm to make eating the burger impossible. Potato rolls are also a good choice.
Avoid super crispy crust rolls like ciabatta. While okay for other, less messy sandwiches, it's a nightmare to eat with a burger, or worse, pulled pork barbecue. They make already messy eating even more so.
Pure personal preference-I'm not a big fan of hamburgers served on Brioche buns, but I do agree that a nice, soft potato bun is excellent.
