Hello Chef Talk!

Hello Everyone!

 

I'm Abi and I'm new to the forum! I've stumbled here and learned more than a few things. talker.gif

 

I'd like to share that growing up Cooking was an insecurity (thanks to my Mom who was really good at it). When I would cook for my family when I was younger, it was always criticized (not enough salt, too bland, not cooked enough etc..) So when I got married, that's always been in the back of my head. Yes, I might seem to be over-reacting but I struggled with that.

 

But things are looking much better for me now. I'm blessed with a very "supportive" and easy to please husband. blushing.gif And some 5+ years of marriage and a growing collection of cookbooks and ups and downs, I'm no longer worried about "my" cooking. Still not the best, but now I've made peace with myself that as long as the hubby (and our 2 little ones) are happy and tummies are full, mommy's doing ok. peace.gif

 

So I am just thrilled to have found this and continue to learn more from all of you! Thanks in advance for all things good and yummy I'll learn!

It is so nice to have you at Cheftalk. What a nice post. I think most (or at least alot of woman) will agree that our mothers have had a big role in our lives growing up and especially in the kitchen.

I was a child that literally stayed in the kitchen with my mother  or grandmother while the men were doing something else and I was fascinated by their cooking. I remeber being eye level with the counter and I used to watch their hands knead bread, make pies ....the flour was billowing in the air and the laughing and joy that came from their experiences together used to make  want me to know so much more.

 

Many years later my mother will still taste my soup .....wait.....(always checking the seasoning) ....and say , " Good job". Isn't that what we want our family to say ?

 

You will refine your cooking with time and I have no doubt that you will do extremely well, it not already.

Aloha abi and welcome !

I think you've come to the right place, I have learned so much and improved my home cooking skills so much that both my husband and I have gained twenty pounds!!  Have a good time !
