Hey all! NY kid

post #1 of 2
Thread Starter

I everyone Im Doug, brand new to cooking. Well real cooking anyways! 22 years old with little to no knowledge outside what I am starting to pick up from my mother(who learned from my grandmother she was off the boat Italian haha)

Most of what I have is just recipes, and although they come out great I really do want to learn in time where I dont need to read off a piece of paper(so to speak) and cane just look at what I have and make something great!

Im all about fitness, but I love food so much and its so great to see how happy you can make someone with an easy recipe. I love being told when something just is not right, what needs tweaking or just needs to be redone altogether.

Time really is not on my side(two jobs and BUS school) but thats the glory about learning something like cooking I can pick up where I left off or take a quick look when Im at school!

Hope I can learn a lot from everyone around here and maybe in time even give back ^^;

Hello Jeyman

We've got a couple of NY members here, so you'll feel at home.  Our membership comes from around the globe and with all levels of culinary ability, from those just starting out, through enthusiastic amateurs (I'm in that camp!) to master chefs.

The wikis, blogs, reviews, articles and photography on here are well worth spending time to view and can be a source of much inspiration!  There are three professional fora, too - but they are read-only for those of us who are not employed in a culinary trade.  Feel free to join in on any thread you find interesting, or start your own in the relevant forum.

Hope to see you around the boards!
