Cheddar cheese cake, what the what?

Hello, I'm still new here but i just wanted to bounce ideas of more culinary inclined people.  I bake and cook for my husband and myself, so whatever we end up with left over usually goes to either his work or mine or to my dialysis clinic crew or is specifically for a pot luck.  While at dialysis the other day one of the techs asked me about cheese cupcakes, so started listing cheeses and he got all excited about cheddar cheese.  So Ive been tasked with making cheddar cheese cupcakes.  Found a recipe, but what in the world would ya'll use to top a more "savory" cheese cupcake?

Many thanks for your input.

I wouldn't!

Why not make a cheese scone?

Top with herbs and creme fraiche?  My family has a great cheese muffin recipe (that I will go look for at some point soon) that uses dry ricotta - would probably keep the shape nicer than a cheddar.  Alternatively, you could try a savoury sable instead of 'cake', if the guy is just looking for cheese based pastries.  Experimenting is always fun - enjoy the challenge!
