School Project

We have s chool project to make, the theme for it is Chaos. We will have to prepare and serve the food. There are eight people in our team and we are right now trying to develop ideas.  I would wish to hear from profesionals, what do they think. We've already been discussing about it, but we are really short on ideas, couse chaos could mean anything, but the end experience of our guest, I belive should fit into an all around complete meal. You definately would not want to get your desert before the main course, lol.

Some of our ideas:

1.We should switch courses. ( Could it work and wich courses could we switch?)

2.We should mix and mach tastes ( Ideas?)

Now we only got the name for our theme yesterday and we are still in the begining of our project, if this thread develops i will let you know what we came up with.smile.gif

How about switching the courses that ingredients or dishes usually show up in? Shellfish in dessert, chocolate in entree, sorbet in appetizer. etc.

Thank you so much, you really made me think into a new direction. I will look into some recipes and see what I can find. smile.gif

Because, I am in my first year, there are a lot of things, I still don't quite grasp. This is the first time we are doing a project like this.

So basically we shouldn't go all wild on chaos, ( there were ideas of giving our guest forks instead of spoons for soup confused.gif) but should do it in a elegant way.

P.S We will be evaluated on our cooking skills and service.

No, do not give forks instead of spoons for soup.  That's not chaotic, it's nonsensical.  Chaos doesn't mean that it can't make sense.

There are lots of foods that were created with the idea of chaos in mind.  Casseroles for example.  Throw everything in and let it be.  Italians and greeks have their own versions of pasticcio which literally means "thrown together."  With a little research you could find other international foods that fit that bill.  You could also do a play on deconstruction although that's a little passe.

Thank you.

I understand what you are saying. I know it sounded really silly to suggest eating soup with forksredface.gif. The whole idea was more of trying to confuse people ( create chaos), before giving them spoons actually. I guess some of us in the group might have missed the point of the project and tried to make it a carnevale ( literally).biggrin.gif

Anyway I am really going to look into some of your suggestions, they are very helpful, will let you know how we progress.

You could also try making the main course look like desert--like a meat cupcake (bacon sprinkles and mashed potato frosting). And make the desert like a soup...maybe a brownie bowl with ice cream 'soup'--or maybe a salad that is actually desert (cookies and sweets cut to look like salad). Lots of fun mix and matches!

I officially don't like group projects :-(  I could rant right now, but I'll rather just say nothing, cause I am probably just paranoid. lol.gif

Hi! It's been a week, since we passed the chaos test.

In the end we ended up doing nothing special to the food and only focused on chaos in service and set up.

We literally made it a chaos, so much that our professor regreted for giving us the theme, lol. Argument, Can't judge what is right or wrong if you were supossed to create chaos?

Anyway props to our group leaders smile.gif
