I am dehydrating meat on stainless steel trays and the food sticks to the trays. We plan to package these and use them as a fundraiser for a pet adoption group.
The two options I can think of to stop the stickiness are:
- Spray trays with vegetable oil
- Place a nonstick mesh screen under the meat and on top of the steel tray
I would prefer to avoid using a mesh, and instead use the stainless steel trays with oil, but I don't know how using oil will affect shelf life.
I have looked through books on food science and dehydration but have not learned how oil might affect the shelf life.
