Thats sounds great, ham or ham bones ? or both :)

Both.  What I usually do is buy a bone-in ham and feed off of that for a while.  When there isn't much meat left, but some, then it goes into the cooker with the beans, sweated onions & bell pepper, maybe some crisped up bacon or salt pork ( render out some fat to sweat the aromatics ), molasses, stock, whatever strikes my fancy at the time.  Depending on how much meat is left on the ham bone I may add a smoked ham hock or two.  No hard and fast recipe, but it usually turns out tasty.

ChefZoneAU, have you decided on what it is that you’re making to try out your new toy yet?  I love new kitchen stuff, I get all giddy inside... I was trying to think of when was the last time I pulled out my Crock Pot...mine isn't has pretty as your new baby...I think it was Cowboy Chili, but it's been WAY too long... I think I'll have to use my knogin' and dream something up...Mahalo (thanks)

cherry cobbler--canned cherry pie filling--crumb topping brown sugar, oatmeal cinamon and vannilla and a pinch of baking soda or baking powder--and a small 1/2 or 1/4 cup of flour--I also add fresh fruit to it in season.  I use this recipe in a regular oven too--I use two cans of pie filling.

Old thread I know but if you are still around try one of my favorite slow cooker recipes:

 

Beef Bourguignon

 

3 lbs of chuck roast, cubed.

2 Tbsp. oil.

2 10 3/4-oz. cans of cream of mushroom soup (golden if you can get it)

1 package of dry onion soup mix

1 cup dry sherry (NOT cooking sherry, yuck)
 

1. Brown the cubes in a skillet, not cooked all the way just good sear.

Drain, and place into the cooker with everything else.

 

2. Put the lid on it and stash it in the fridge over night.

 

3. Cook on low for 8-10 hrs.

 

4. Serve on bed of rice, or egg noodles.
