I am baking a cake for my nephews birthays and I am trying to figure out what to use. I made a red velvet cake for my sister and used a cream cheese frosting and it was very thin and would just gather on the cake plate and run off the cake. I was just wondering is there a thickness difference between buttercreams, frostings, and icings? Which one would be the best to frost/ice a little boys birthday cake, I need something thick enough to pipe with also. Thank you for all your help!
