Ovens and summer temperatures are not the best of friends ... This, an easy egg yolk, sugar and / or Sicilian Marsala or Tuscan Vin Santo concoction, served with Biscotti, almond flour classic Italian cookies, a lovely finale with iced Espresso and an Iced Cordial of choice ...

 

What are some of your non oven desserts ?

 

 

Vin Santo is a sweet Italian dessert wine, that is exported to the USA, by Producers: Antinori, Avignonesi and Barbi. If it is unavailable, one can sub or try Sicilian Marsala, Portuguese Madeira or sweet Oloroso Jérez.

 

Nonna Margherite´s Easy Zabaglione with Marsala ...

 

5 egg yolks

3 cups sugar

1/3 cup Marsala or Vin Santo

 

Using an electric mixer or whisk, beat the yolks and sugar for 3 minutes approximately in a large metal bowl until thick and a pale cream ivory color.

 

Set the bowl over a sauce pan  of simmering water.

 

Gradually beat in the sweet wine and continue beating for 4 minutes approximately until foamy and tripled in volume.

 

Spoon the warm Zabaglione into large Goblets or Martini stemware and serve with biscotti.

 

*** Fresh late August Strawberries or Peaches are a lovely pair with this dessert.
