Hi forum,

Quick question for black bean soup. What would you guys recommend for weight of black beans (dried) per person. I wondered about 110g / 3.8oz pp....

38oz of beans seems like a LOT per person. . .I mean, that is almost 40oz of soup. . . go to the 7-11 and look at a 40oz.That is 3LBS OF SOUP, plus 2 oz.

If the soup is a course, I tend to do a 8oz serving.

Beans, much like pasta, double in weight from dried to cooked too, so take that into account.

I think you mean 3.9oz pp. FWIW it still sounds like a lot to me. 2oz is probably enough.
