should I put a label under my business name?

Hey guys

 

I'm planning on opening a high end dessert shop in the near future. It going to be called "Forbidden Desserts" and I'm selling things like cakes, tarts, cookies and few other things, I was wondering if I should put a label underneath like bakery, patisserie etc. to tell people specifically on what kind of business it is

 

My problems with these names is that...

 

"patisserie" usually known to sell like croissant, danishes and desserts... but i sell desserts only

 

"bakery" - usually known to sell breads, pastries and desserts

 

"dessert shop" - I can't do it cause I already got "Desserts" for my business name, so it too weird with two "desserts"

 

pastry shop - pretty much the same reason as patisserie

 

bake shop - seems too common with businesses like those average cupcake shops

 

 

 

 

OR it not a big deal to do it because my business name already explain that

From a consumer standpoint, it shouldn't matter -- if it is a business drawing people in off of the street the name should indicate what the business is/does.  Yours seems to do that already... although it might be difficult if you ever want to sell  bread in the future.

I agree with BrianShaw.  Your name gets the point across to me for sure.  As long as you are sticking to just desserts then I think your name works.  But, like BrianShaw said, if you decide to add more baked good to your counter top, then that could pose a problem.  Keep that in mind.  Good luck to you!

Alright cool... I won't put anything beside my business name ... I'm not doing bread for sure, no problems with that

 

Now I got to think of a logo for it... I'm thinking of doing a tree like the "tree of knowledge" from the adam and eve story, where I got the inspiration for my business name with forbidden fruit :)

Sure... just remember that they didn't start wearing fig leaves until AFTER eating the fruit/dessert!

would the word "forbidden" put people off? like making some doubt if they should buy a dessert or not for the sake of "gain weight or break my diet" type of people
