barring any unforseen delays, breakdowns or disasters and with a little bit of luck, i should be in my new winter digs and gig by mid week.  will let you know all about it when we land safely as i don't want to queer the deal so to speak....i'll get and send email on my new smart phone (if i can figure it out) til then...

in the meantime, stay well, play nice and remember(sorry mods), that democracy is not a spectator sport.....please vote!

from a one butt galley to a kitchen full of mario's, manny's, juan's and raul's(12 to be exact)! besides being the only female in the kitchen i am apparently the new dessert maven. exciting and challenging and perhaps a bit daunting on this scale...120 seat B,L,D restaurant + catering.....big equipment, big batches, big kitchen(not enough refrigeration as usual)...busy little resort.......sooo, school is back in session and the spanglish lessons have begun! todos es bueno!! joey

a snapshot of a different sort....'back in the spanglish saddle'....

NOKLIN was written on a huge plastic cambro in the walk in. in all my travels to mexico and working with mexicans in various kitchens, i have never come across that word.  it looked like swiss chard to me...google translate didn't help.  when i finally asked one of the cooks, i was told it was no klin as in dirty, as in unwashed, as in not cleaned!  it just came from the garden....i'm still laughing...gotta love it!!
