Do I need to send this back or is it ok?

Thread Starter

I ordered a few pans recently and they arrived in the mail today. Everything looked like it should except for my carbon steel pan, the 'coating' is chipped and coming off. I don't know if that is the coat I'm supposed to scrub down anyway and season it or if this is a lemon? It's a lodge product. I took a picture because I just don't know what to think of it, could you guys take a look and help me out? Sorry for the less than perfect quality... in the dark didn't work at all and with lights it shines a bunch, I hope you guys can see what I'm questioning.

Thanks!!!

My carbon steel pans made by de Buyere have edges/rims that are of even thickness all around.  If I were you I'd return those that you received in exchange for the d.B.'s.

Best and I'm a foodie.   I know very little but the little that I know I want to know very well.

Your pans are fine.  What you're seeing is where the coating you're suppose to remove completely before seasoning wore off as a result of handling and packing.
