amateur baking signature dish

Hi,

I am having a difficult time coming up with a "signature dish" for a amateur baking competition.  I need to bring a sample dish but am unsure if the dish should be what I like or just what others liked.  My friends like my carrot cake but I am more of a chocolate person.  Other favorites are brownies.

Anyone have a signature dish?  If so, why this particular dish?

competitions usually have rules.  what are the rules ?  like theme and things like that.  Certain ingredients, color, how big or how tall, easy recipes etc...  when it it ?

Actually it is a open casting call for  CBS upcoming amateur bake off.  They say to bring a signature dish and a picture of it.  So,  it is not for judging so nothing fancy.  It is tomorrow so I am just going to whip up a batch of cookies for the casting crew.  But, it made me think about what is my signature dish?  I do not really have one..yet.  How should one decide on this.. does it just come with time or experience?
