Can this still be done?

Once upon a time, I worked in an office building (in South Dakota).  At lunch time, in the lunch room was somebody selling food.  Everyday was someone/somethine different.  Wasn't a huge set up, just a table and depending on what they were serving. example one guy had a rice cooker with rice and a roaster with teriyaki chicken.

So my question, has anybody done this?   I know that food trucks are becoming widely popular, but I'm wondering if this sort of point of sale catering lunch service is a viable idea?

If the person was actually selling food, they would have to have a health department inspection, a DBA and a vendor's permit at the very least. South Dakota may have some laws different from other states but those would still apply. Your situation may have been something sanctioned by the office management but that alone would not make it legal.

If you are thinking of doing something like that, check with the local officials first. If you don't you could end up in a lot of trouble.
