Hi All

Hi Everyone,

My name is John from the UK.

I'm a busy professional and cooking is both my passion and my release. I love to come home from work, lay out my ingredients and plan my evening around making great food.

I've been teaching myself to cook for a few years, but recently started to ramp up my knowledge learning new techniques. Despite trying new cooking methods such as sous vide, my goal is to focus on the foundations of cooking in order to provide me with a platform to create new and interesting things without the need for recipe books.

Food pairing is one area that fascinates me. Whilst I've experimented with things like vanilla and sea bass, and salmon and liquorice, I really want to get that base knowledge of flavours that will allow me to build up and improve a dish.

Whilst I'll never need to cook for large crowds of people (a dinner party will probably be the largest setting), the ability to communicate with people such as yourselves who do this for a living is a fantastic idea. I hope to learn from your experiences and maybe in my own small way, contribute to this community.

Kind regards,

John

Aloha, Welcome John to Chef Talk.

You're in terrific company, not only with the Professional, but also us Home Experts.  The range of culinary expertise is astounding to me.  You never know if the person that you're chatting with is a Pastry Chef in Paris or a Food enthusiast in Tulsa Oklahoma.

Please take a moment to review the FAQ and Guidelines, if you have questions, PM a Mod or Admin person for help.  You might want to search your topics of interest in the bar at the top of the page, as many have been beaten to death many times over.

Mostly though, have a good time here at CT.
