Look what Shun sent me

Thread Starter

I was on Shuns fb page a few days before xmas chatting with one of the other posters on the page about the   Blue Kiritsuke, and I commented "I love love LOVE my Henkels...the Blue looks sweet, but there's no way I'm going to shell out 300 bucks on a "maybe I'll like it"  :( " Mod pops up and says "Thor, PM your address and I'll get something out to possibly win you over" Which I proceed to do (after calling Shun to see if the guy was actually an employee...he was. Can never be too careful), and he tells me he will send out a "tester".  January 9 rolls around, and I open the box to find a BRAND NEW Blue, along with a cutting board and a note that it was mine to keep. I'm still in shock...being a home cook I don't think I'd ever lay that much money out. I am in love with this thing...just finished using it to prep some veg for a stew early in the AM and had to post. Does that happen frequently? I don't visit food forums much (except this one now) and, I guess, I'm still in disbelief....waiting for an invoice to show up at my doorstep (post it said merry xmas, and the "yours to keep" line. I guess after all those years in LE left me pretty hesitant to trust

We can see your reflection in the blade (first pic). Try taking a pic in day light without the phones flash. (I was a pro photog a lot of years.)

That way we can be more jealous!! That is pretty cool and smart marketing by Shun in a simple way...

I actually have a home built lightbox (nothing fancy...cardboard frame with white tissue-like paper, and several 100 watt "Reveal" bulbs) and Canon Rebel  that I use for my paracord biz and various ebay stuff.  This was just a "finished cleaning after an hour of julienne and happier than a pig in poop" pic biggrin.gif

To the others: Thank you. since being out of LE I usually help with 2 or 3 fundraising things a year both through Motorcycle Club and solo...I (like to) think karma decided to throw a bone after 7 years of doing so smile.gif  (NOT the reason I do it, hopefully y'all know what I mean)

Forgot to add: TOTALLY smart marketing by Shun....I was already a Kershaw/Zero Tolerance guy for carry/hunting knives (apparently all the same parent company), but I find myself looking on their page more now picking out my next utility or paring knife...

I've never seen a Shun like that!  Very pretty.

Not that all Shuns are inherently bad, because they aren't, BUT Kai is past the point where Shun still attracts "enthusiasts."
