Food Mill Question

Thread Starter

I'm getting this food mill whose capacity is, I think, one quart.  But I was thinking of replacing the order for a two quart food mill.  At this point I've never used one but my intentions are to use it to make erbspuree (german pea soup) for four people and perhaps in the future salsa and "pureed" tomatos and maybe a quart of jam/marmalade.

For the small quantity I intend to make, is there a real time difference between the two mills when it comes to milling?

Best and I'm a foodie.   I know very little but the little that I know I want to know very well.

I think if for ten dollars more you get twice the capacity, I'd go with the larger one. You may start doing smaller amounts but if you do any canning or large parties, the larger will be handy.

I would definitely go for the larger one. I have a 2 qt food mill and can't imagine trying to process any amount of food in the smaller, 1 qt ones I have seen. It would be tedious.

The bigger mills will process food in small quantities just fine.   The smaller ones won't do larger quantities without being a real PITA.

Get the larger one, the more you use it the more you will want an even larger one!

Once you start preserving/canning you will always want more/bigger.

I'll exchange it for the larger one (2 qts) and at this point I can't see getting the one having a gallon capacity.  I think.
