Help with cake pops & cracked chocolate

Was wondering if anyone would be able to help me.  Made cake pops for the first time with some leftover cake a couple weeks ago.  Had a problem with my white chocolate cracking on 1/2 of the pops after it dried.  Any thoughts as to why this happened?

 

I used Guittard white chocolate.  Was able to hide most of the cracks with decorations but would like to find out what I did wrong to help prevent from happening again.  Didn't seem to have any problems with the ones I covered in red chocolate melts.

Great job for first time..I had the same problem too.  once it started to dry.. cracked and some oozed out right?  Since I used wilton candy melts for mine, I thought it was due to the vegetable shortening in it coming into contact with the cold cake filling?  Or maybe the melts were too hot?  I also had problems with my balls falling off the sticks.

Nope nothing oozed out - just had some cracks in the chocolate.  If yours was oozing maybe there was too much frosting mixed in.  I dipped the ends of my sticks in chocolate before I inserted them into the cake ball.  I admit I did have a couple balls fall off the stick but that was because my daughter put too much frosting in one of the batches (this made them too gooey - gross texture but still tasted good).

 

Going to make some more this weekend - hopefully the chocolate won't crack this time.  If so I guess I'll just cover them again with sprinkles and chocolate.
