According to my sources, 1 pound dried beans should yield 5 1/2 to 6 cups cooked beans. Based on 1/2 cup portion size per person (standard FDA serving) cooking 9 pounds of beans will yield you 98 1/2 cup portions.
I'd cook 10 pounds because who actually serves and even 1/2 cup? No one.
Give yourself a little wiggle room, besides, not everyone will eat them anyway.
