500 in the first 1.5 hours

Well, this was the second week of Clayton Farmer's Market....I had someone counting noises and the count was close to 500 by 9:30...we open at 8am. Amazing!! business slowed down dramatically by 10:30, we probably had 900-1000 in 4 hours. The omelet booth sold 60 omelets at $5 a pop ala carte. Many farmers were sold out by 9;15. Not a great thing, definately working on increasing the vender #'s. Bread, we need bread!!!
This week the demo was a tempeh salad with a dijon dressing, pretty darn great.
We had radishes, garlic scapes, strawberries, new potatoes (desiree), turnips, beets (tiny babies), arugula, spinach, lettuces...including a black one, snow peas, sugar snaps, carrots, green onions, eggs, pork, honey, etc....
We had the ACF junior chefs scoping out the place to see what they would make next Sat.....they were thinking, crab salad with green beans, tomatoes and avacado dressing!!! or gazpacho!!! HELLO? oh man there's alot of work to do between now and next week for these guys to get through the learning curve. HOT St. Louis summer, out doors early am.....I'm thinking grill lamb brats, make fruit crepes, have veg and goat cheese dip for kids, beet/goat cheese salad....any other ideas? sorghum, horseradish, mustard, pork, lamb, will be on the market next weekend as well as the forementioned products.

WOW!

Sounds like you've already done a great, great job! Did you get any press coverage? Surely the fact that stands sold out early should be a good inducement to others, no?

:bounce: :D
