Howdy

Thread Starter

Hello everyone,

Just discovered this site and have really enjoyed perusing the threads in the forum so thought I'd jump in. I consider myself a fairly serious home cook. Although I probably have just enough knowledge and experience to be dangerous. I love to experiment with all types of cuisine and techniques. I make plenty of mistakes, but try to learn from my failures. There have been some epic ones! Right now I'm on a bit of a Southeast Asia kick and have been hitting the wok pretty hard. Also trying to up my knife skills and learn how to put a really fine edge on a blade.

Favorite types of cuisine to cook are French, Mexican and Southeast Asian. Also a big BBQ fan - I have a beautiful ribeye marinating in the fridge right now that's chomping at the bit for some hot coals! I have very little interest in baking, but maybe somebody will change my mind. The thought of fresh bread is appealing, but just not that into cakes, etc. Love a nice sorbet or ice cream after a meal. As well as a glass of scotch! Maybe two.

Hope to share some stories, ideas, and learn a bit from everyone.

Cheers,

Gaucho

Aloha partner!  Welcome to Chef Talk.

You, my friend, are in great company.  The folks here at CT share in your love of ALL things food.  Whatever your current pursuit, you’ll find plenty of like minded folk.

Chef Talk has been around for more than 10 years and has 45,000 + members from around the globe.  Everybody from CCI to people who think they can’t boil water.  A note, folks not employed in the food industries are asked to read only in the Pro forums, but they are very interesting.  The search bar is very useful in finding topics that have been around the world three times over.

I hope to see some over your successes as well as flops in the Galleries soon.
