Welcome! I see you've already dived into the discussions, so you've put your finger on one of the great virtues of Chef Talk: its members. You join a group of food-lovers and professionals from all over the world, all ages, all levels of expertise (and ignorance!) who are here because they love food. How great is that?!

 

Besides the discussion forums, don't miss the excellent and informative cooking articles (there are plenty on baking topics), cookbook and equipment reviews, photo galleries and more. We've been here since 1999 so there's a treasure trove of information here; good thing we have a good search tool.

 

I'm a home cook who came to baking rather late. I've worked up a pretty good recipe for rugelach, but am still an infant when it comes to yeast baking. I always learn something from the professionals and from other home cooks and bakers when I come here. It's the openness and willingness to help each other enjoy and improve that makes this site unique, I think.
