So I have various sizes of the CIA Masters Collection bowl-shaped strainers.
I love them and they have worked wonderfully for my many straining needs from stocks to drinks to whatever else I've used them for. I also use Michael Rulhman's straining clothes in tandem, which are fantastic.
Are there any major advantages or things I can't do with my strainers I have now compared to a chinois? I do plan on purchasing a tamis so I do understand the differences between that and a strainer, but a chinois seems to just be a much larger conical strainer.
Any thoughts? Is a chinois redundant?
