Favorites - FOOD PROCESSOR

My old one finally died.  I just picked this up at the COSTCO all commercial store. (Its all I have.)

Its a beast.  I think it is a quality piece.  It cost north of $300.

I'm excited to try to make this more a part of my everyday cooking regime. 

 

Any suggestions or favorites on simple stuff?

 

I just posted concerning grass fed beef.  The dinner will be steak and shrimp....ideas on sauces, salsas, pestos...biggrin.gif

Don't use mine that much.  It is a Cuisanart from maybe 1979, 80 or so.

 

How about a chimichurri sauce to go with that steak?

I DIDNT USE MINE MUCH EITHER BUT THIS ON WORKS SO WELL ITS KIND OF INSPIRING ...IS EASY SMOOTH AND VERY QUICK.

Bought a basic Cuisinart (model??) several years ago as a a Chirstmas gift to myself.  Think it was about $100.  Had had several other (sub par?) brands and was amazed at how much power this basic C had.  Then I find another one at a THRIFT STORE for $8... clean, had all the blades, ran just fine.  Figured... a spare bowl, at least.  Ended up being a step UP from what I already had.

 

I love it for shredding cabbage for cole slaw or shredding a large amount of cheese.  I RARELY buy bread crumbs... my Grandmother always had a batch of stale bread drying out just for that purpose.  When her bread was dry, she'd haul out the heavy hand grinder that clamped to table top and ut one of us grand kids to work.  The FP blade makes for much less work.

I like my food processor for:

 

cutting fat into flour for pie crust, biscuits, cracker dough, etc

shredding certain things - carrots, cheese, leafy greens

pureeing raw onions/garlic ginger/chili for curry base

MAYONNAISE (that's what that little hole at the bottom of the feed tube's for)

chopping whole canned tomatoes for tomato sauce 

homemade nutella

 

those are a few off the top of my head.
