Hi Everyone...

Thread Starter

Hi Everyone,

I've been a chef for 9 years since I was 24.  I love working in kitchens and have always tried to develop my skills.  Up until now I have been solely based in Scotland but recently I have made the decision to go travelling in order to gain new knowledge and insight into food and food culture in different parts of the world. I've travelled fairly extensively in the past but never really with this specific goal in mind.

My main destinations will be America and Europe so I will no doubt be seeking some pointers from those with any pointers to offer.

Anyway, nice to be on here.  Hopefully I'll get to know some of you bit more as time goes by.

Hello Steven. We're glad you found us and hope you enjoy being part of this worldwide community. Thanks to the internet, you can take us on your travels. We have a strong contingent of Scots here; in fact, one of the other moderators for this forum is herself a Scot.

Since you've determined to expand your culinary horizons, Chef Talk is a wonderful place to augment your travels. Our membership hails from every continent (even Antarctica now and then) so you can pick up pointers on making authentic homestyle or restaurant quality dishes from Indonesia or Brazil or the Netherlands on any day of the week if you so desire. Just use the search tool here and have at it!

Besides the discussion forums, be sure to explore the cooking articles, cookbook and equipment reviews, photo galleries and more. After more than 13 years in existence and tens of thousands of members, we've got a lot to share.

We hope you visit often to share and participate in the community. Welcome!
