Hello everyone, just discovered ChefTalk and had to join. I'm a non-professional home cook, always looking for different dishes to prepare for my wife and I.

Welcome woodwaster! I'm a home cook too. You'll find this place is excellent for those of us who want to expand our repertoire of meal options, up our confidence in our cooking skills and boost our general information about food and cooking.

Do take some time to explore the entire site. The discussion forums are extensive, but we also have cooking articles aplenty, photo galleries, reviews of equipment and cookbooks.... Good thing we have a search tool to help you find what you're seeking. When you do go to the forums, please keep in mind a couple of things about posting. First, the professionals' forums are great places for everyone (including us home cooks) to read, but we're limited to "read only" and mustn't post there. We do our posting in the general forums. Second, some of the threads you'll read may have had their last post years ago; the conversation is in suspended animation, so to speak. So be aware of the dates of the posts if you do decide to resurrect an older thread.

What are your favorite dishes to prepare? Are there ingredients you especially like to use? Cuisines you like best? Maybe there are challenges you'd like to work toward, such as making pizza doughs, or smoking your own bacon. You can explore all that and more here at Chef Talk.

Welcome! We hope you'll chip in your knowledge too. Everyone has something unique to contribute.
