I am a/(currently THE) baker for a newly opened hotel in Hawaii Volcano National Park. I went to culinary school out of high school but have only been baking professionally since 2006, first for a natural foods grocery store, now for a restaurant. I am hoping to pick up tips on various things here.

Marya, Kanehokegirlinaz, our Hawaiian moderator for this forum, will be disappointed to have missed being the first to welcome you, but I get to do the honors!

We're delighted to have you with us and hope you find this to be a supportive, informative and fun community to be part of. The Professional Baking and Pastry Forums are excellent! I'm a home cook, but it's one of my interests, so I've done a good deal of reading there. The members here are the treasure of this site. You can make connections and find exactly what you need; they can learn from you. Cool.

Please keep in mind we're more than our discussion forums, as extensive as they are. We have excellent cooking articles, cookbook and equipment reviews, photo galleries and more. We hope you'll explore all of it and take part in the community.

Welcome! Best of luck with success for the hotel.

Aloha No, my sistah Mary!
So glad to see another member join CT from Hawaii! Fantastic!

Tell us more about this new hotel in the Volcano National Park, one of THE most beautiful places on Earth!

It has been years since I’ve been there, although DH and left Hawaii only 5 years ago after retiring.

Pastry, huh?  Great, I’ll pick your brain on how to make Japanese Cheesecake, like the one I had in Honolulu at Uncle’s, ONO~LICIOUS!!

I am sooooo happy that you’re here and hope that you will visit often, mostly to ease a homesick island gal with tales from home…

A hui hou!
