One of my all time favorite meals is pretty simple - grilled chicken well seasoned and with a tangy Q sauce, accompanied by, I'll admit, boxed mac and cheese. No doubt based on some long forgotten childhood food memory, still echoing around in the dark recesses of my consciousness.
Something I do remember from family reunions and such is soaking the ears of corn in tubs of salt water before putting on the grill. The waterlogged husks steam the corn inside to start, and as they begin to dry, then char, impart a nice, smokey note to the sweet taste of the kernels.
