I have many recipes for chocolate cake, but this one is very easy, dark and tender.  The sour cream just makes it tender and rich and doesn't make it taste sour.  The sourness is counteracted by the baking soda, and the two together make it rise.

I made it with a sour cream ganache and I really liked the contrast of the slightly tart chocolate in the frosting with the sweetness of the cake.

I don't remember the exact proportions of chocolate to sour cream, but i think about 150 gms semi sweet baking chocolate and about  a cup of sour cream.  You simply melt the chocolate and then add the cream and it becomes immediately of spreading consistency.

I made the cake as a sheet cake (13 X 9 inch) in one layer, and that would give a generous layer of frosting.  Otherwise use the one in the recipe.
