That simple smoker rocks. No danger with the plastic?

When i remember i used to make sausages and chorizos with this (not my pick) i really admire your equipment.

Thanks Ordo,

The smoke-generator keeps really cold, it raises the temp about 1 degree...
It's just a tiny piece of smoldering sawdust that's producing the smoke.
With one charge of sawdust it produces a steady smoke for over 14 hours!

This is a pic i made after 10 hours smoking, last night!

Love that smoker. Serious ghetto setup ;) I need one, only been hot-smoking so far. And with that, off to fire up mine for some smoked bacon, it's ready to come out of the cure....

I really like the cold smoke generator, it costs around $30 and really doe the trick!
I've got an offsetsmoker, kamado, uds and some grills but i like this setup most for cold smoking!

Same here. Very interested in this set up.

So how do you work it?

Do you use pieces of wood or dust?

Do you soak it first and how do you light it?

Maybe I just have to go north next time I come to the Netherlands lol.gif

You're very welkom butzy!

It's a small labyrint which is fillef with dry, fine sawdust.
I light it with a torch untill one end is smoldering...

I believe there is a small description of the smoker in my movie...

Pieter, I am thinking of ordering one. Isit easy to work with?
Is the price quoted at Gene's amazon link reasonable or did you manage to find something a lot cheaper in holland?
Reason for asking is that I have to convince someone to bring it in for me.

Pieter: I showed this thread to my father and he was in awe of it.

I also showed him the July challenge , he is could not get over the dishes he saw.

Thank you so much for this thread as it is something I will do with him later on this year.
